About
my person: Born in 1966 next to the biggest open coal mine in the
world in the west part of Germany. Since I am a child I was always
impressed how this coal mine changes the whole life of so many people
and their surrounding, the landscape. In this surrounding when I
was 14 years old I did my first photographs, which were landscapes
and industry.

After
grammar school I studied mechanical engineering, because of these
machines which can change everything. Searching for a more creative
way during my study I continued taking photographs and also my diploma
in engineering was a design of a placer yacht. After working as
a boat designer I decided to study once more: Photography. For this
reason I moved to Haarlem (Nl), where a little private school for
photography existed. After 3 years and my second diploma, I worked
for years as a advertisement photographer in Amsterdam. Now I am
living in Germany and Italy, where I work on my art works.

About
my art work: Since I am young I am still impressed about the fact
how the nature is changing the people, how the people are changing
the nature. My work is like this nature, like the digging machines
I am changing the nature. I try to concentrate the viewer on the
essential facts, which influence our surrounding, our life and our
desires.
-
-
I
as the photographer decided the point of view and the moment of
exposure. In this way I can open the eyes of the viewer for this,
my world. In my pictures I want to show the two extremes; the silence/peace
but also the tension/movement, which exist in our surrounding. The
power of the nature, which changes the people.
-
All
my photographs are done with my analog camera. Before printing I
adjust contrast and the light, a special light, which is nearly
impossible. So I increase those two extremes, those emotions. Also
there are missing people in my pictures, so I will create more space
to the viewer in my photograph.
-
-
Like
the digging machines I take the option to change the world, and
this new world changes the idea of the observer. At the end there
is the romantic vision of a changed world. Looking at my pictures
the observer can step in this romantic surrounding, which creates
a silence and tension in the person himself. With this emotions
I want to cause the desire of searching and finding a place for
any observer in my new world; a place where the observer would like
to be, would like to exist.
-
-
By
using just simple titles, like a simple description, for my work
pieces I want to liberate the mind of the observer. In this way
the thoughts have less limitation, in this way it will be much easier
to enter my photographs.
-
- Like
this it will be possible for any person to enter and live in his own
world.
